Gartnait, 7th Earl of Mar1 
He acquired the feuadal Barony of Gairloch through his wife.2 He was also known as Gratney.2 He held the office of Joint Sheriff of Aberdeenshire in 1297.2 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Mar [S., c. 1115] after 25 July 1297.1

Donald, 8th Earl of Mar1

He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Mar [S., c. 1115] before September 1305.1 He was reared at King Edward I’s court in England.3 He held the office of Keeper of Newark Castle in January 1321/22.3 In 1327 he raised a force in Scotland and invaded England seeking to restore King Edward II.3 He held the office of Regent of Scotland in 1332.3 He fought in the Battle of Dupplin Muir on 12 August 1332.3
