Catherine II Sofie Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst, Tsarina of Russia was born on 2 May 1729 at Szczecin, PolandG. She was the daughter of Christian August Prinz von Anhalt-Zerbst and Johanna Elisabeth Prinzessin von Holstein-Gottorp. She married Petr III Romanov, Tsar of Russia, son of Karl Friedrich von Holstein-Gottorp, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp and Anna Petrovna Romanov, Grand Duchess of Russia, on 1 September 1745 at St. Petersburg, RussiaG. She died on 17 November 1796 at age 67 at St. Petersburg, RussiaG.
Catherine II Sofie Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst, Tsarina of Russia also went by the nick-name of Catherine ‘the Great’. She and Stanislas II August Poniatowski, King of Poland were associated.3 She was given the name of Sophie Auguste Frederike von Anhalt-Zerbst at birth. After her marriage, Catherine II Sofie Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst, Tsarina of Russia was styled as Ekaterina Alexseivna Romanov on 1 September 1745.1 After her marriage, Catherine II Sofie Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst, Tsarina of Russia was styled as Tsarina Ekaterina II ‘the Great’ of Russia in 1762.1

He was given the name of Karl Peter Ulrich von Holstein-Gottorp at birth.1 He gained the title of Tsar Petr III of Russia in 1762.

Petr I ‘the Great’ Alexeiovich Romanov, Tsar of Russia was born on 9 June 1672 at Moscow, RussiaG. He was the son of Alexis I Mikhailovich Romanov, Tsar of Russia and Natalia Kirilovna Narishkina. He married, firstly, Yevdokiya Theodorovna Lopukhina, daughter of Theodore Lopukhin, on 6 February 1689. He and Yevdokiya Theodorovna Lopukhina were divorced in 1698. He married, secondly, Ekaterina I Skavronska, Tsarina of Russia, daughter of Samuel Skavronski, on 8 November 1707. He was also reported to have been married on 1 March 1712 at Warsaw, PolandG. He died on 8 February 1725 at age 52 at St. Petersburg, RussiaG.
He gained the title of Tsar Petr I of Russia in 1689.1

She was the daughter of Samuel Skavronski.1 She married Petr I ‘the Great’ Alexeiovich Romanov, Tsar of Russia, son of Alexis I Mikhailovich Romanov, Tsar of Russia and Natalia Kirilovna Narishkina, on 8 November 1707. She married John Rabbe before 1712.1 She was also reported to have been married on 1 March 1712 at Warsaw, PolandG. She died on 17 May 1727 at St. Petersburg, RussiaG.
Ekaterina I Skavronska, Tsarina of Russia also went by the nick-name of Martha. After her marriage, Ekaterina I Skavronska, Tsarina of Russia was styled as Tsarina Ekaterina I of Russia in 1725.1

Alexis Petrovich Romanov, Tsarevich of Russia was born on 18 February 1690. He was the son of Petr I ‘the Great’ Alexeiovich Romanov, Tsar of Russia and Yevdokiya Theodorovna Lopukhina. He married Charlotte Christine Prinzessin von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, daughter of Ludwig Rudolf Herzog von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and Christine Luise Prinzessin von Oettingen, on 25 October 1711.2 He died on 7 July 1718 at age 28, executed.
He gained the title of Tsarevich Alexis of Russia.

She was the daughter of Ludwig Rudolf Herzog von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and Christine Luise Prinzessin von Oettingen.1 She married Alexis Petrovich Romanov, Tsarevich of Russia, son of Petr I ‘the Great’ Alexeiovich Romanov, Tsar of Russia and Yevdokiya Theodorovna Lopukhina, on 25 October 1711.1 She died on 2 November 1715 at age 21.
She gained the title of Prinzessin von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel.

Petr II Alexeiovich Romanov, Tsar of Russia was born on 28 October 1715. He was the son of Alexis Petrovich Romanov, Tsarevich of Russia and Charlotte Christine Prinzessin von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel. He died on 30 January 1730 at age 14, from smallpox.
He gained the title of Tsar Petr II of Russia in 1727.1
