Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie Herzogin in Bayern was born on 24 December 1837 at Munich, Bavaria, GermanyG.1 She was the daughter of Maximilian Joseph Herzog in Bayern and Ludovika Wilhelmine Prinzessin von Bayern.1 She married Franz Joseph I Karl Kaiser von Österreich, son of Franz Karl Joseph Erzherzog von Österreich and Sophie Prinzessin von Bayern, on 21 November 1854 at Hofpfarrkirche of St. Augustine, Vienna, AustriaG.1 She died on 10 September 1898 at age 60 at Geneva, SwitzerlandG, assassinated by an anarchist.1 She was buried at Capuchin Church, Vienna, AustriaG.1
She was also known as Erzsébet.4 She gained the title of Herzogin in Bayern.1 Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie Herzogin in Bayern also went by the nick-name of Sissi.5 After her marriage, Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie Herzogin in Bayern was styled as Kaiserin von Österreich.
