From 23 July 1986, her married name became Duchess of York.2 She co-authored the book My Story.3 She held the office of Chancellor of Salford University between 1991 and 1994.3 She wrote the book Dining with the Duchess, published 1998.3

Brigadier Ronald Ivor Ferguson was born on 10 October 1931 at 15 Cumberland Terrace, London, England.3,4 He was the son of Colonel Andrew Henry Ferguson and Marian Louisa Montagu Douglas Scott.3 He married, firstly, Susan Mary Wright, daughter of Fitzherbert Wright and Hon. Doreen Julia Wingfield, in January 1956 at St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster, London, EnglandG.3 He married, secondly, Susan Rosemary Deptford, daughter of Frederick William Deptford and Phyllis Maud Easy, in 1976.3 He and Susan Mary Wright were divorced in 1974.3 He died on 16 March 2003 at age 71.3
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He gained the rank of Major in the Life Guards.3 He was with Neilson McCarthy PR between 1969 and 1971.3 He was deputy chairman of the Guards Polo Club between 1971 and 1989.3 He wrote the book The Galloping Major, published 1994.3

From January 1956, her married name became Ferguson. From July 1975, her married name became Barrantes.
