Lady Rachael Russell was born in 1700.2 She was the daughter of Wriothesley Russell, 2nd Duke of Bedford and Elizabeth Howland.1,3 She married, firstly, Scroop Egerton, 1st Duke of Bridgwater, son of John Egerton, 3rd Earl of Bridgwater and Lady Jane Powlett, on 4 August 1722.3 She married, secondly, Sir Richard Lyttelton, son of Sir Thomas Lyttelton, 4th Bt. and Christian Temple, on 14 December 1745.3 She died on 22 May 1777.3 She was buried on 28 May 1777 at Little Gaddesden, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.4
After her marriage, Lady Rachael Russell was styled as Duchess of Bridgwater on 4 August 1722. From 4 August 1722, her married name became Egerton. From 14 December 1745, her married name became Lyttelton.

Wriothesley Russell, 2nd Duke of Bedford was born on 1 November 1680 at St. Gile’s-in-the-Fields, London, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. William Russell, Lord Russell and Lady Rachel Wriothesley.1 He was baptised at St. Gile’s-in-the-Fields, London, EnglandG.1 He married Elizabeth Howland, daughter of John Howland and Elizabeth Child, on 23 May 1695 at chapel of the Manor House, Streatham, Surrey, EnglandG, both under-age, and with her worth ‘the best part of £100,000.1‘ He died on 26 May 1711 at age 30, from small pox.1 He was buried on 30 May 1711 at Chenies, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) in August 1711.1,3
