     Sir Edward Leighton, 1st Bt. was the son of Robert Leighton and Gertrude Baldwyn.1 He married, firstly, Dorothy Charlton, daughter of Sir Job Charlton, 1st Bt. and Dorothy Blunden, in 1679.1 He married, secondly, Jane Nicholl, daughter of Daniel Nicholl, in 1693.1 He died in 1711.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Leighton, of Wattlesborough, Shropshire [England] on 2 March 1692/93.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shropshire in 1695.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Shropshire.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shrewsbury.1

     General Sir Baldwin Leighton, 6th Bt. was born on 15 January 1747.1 He was the son of Baldwin Leighton and Anne Smyth.1,2 He married, firstly, Anna Pigott, daughter of Reverend William Pigott and Dorothy Cotes, in May 1780.1 He married, secondly, Margaretta Louisa Anne Stanley, daughter of Sir John Thomas Stanley, 6th Bt. and Margaret Owen, on 25 November 1802.2 He died on 13 November 1828 at age 81.1
     He fought in the American War of Independence, where he was wounded.1 He held the office of Governor of Carrickfergus.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 9th Garrison Battalion.1 He held the office of Governor of Jersey.1 He fought in the Peninsular Wars.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Leighton, of Wattlesborough, Shropshire [E., 1693] in February 1819.2
