     Matthew Saumarez was born on 10 October 1718.1 He was the son of Matthew de Sausmarez and Anne Durell.2 He married, firstly, Susannah Dumaresq, daughter of Thomas Dumaresq.1 He married, secondly, Carterette Le Marchant, daughter of James Le Marchant and Martha Le Marchant.1 He died in 1778, drowned in his passage to England.2
