     Sir John Thomas, 1st Bt. was the son of William Thomas and Sarah Powell.2,1 He married Elizabeth Thomas, daughter of William Thomas and Jane Stradling, on 1 December 1694.1 He died on 17 January 1702/3, without issue.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Thomas, of Wenvoe, Glamorgan [England] on 24 December 1694, with a special remainder, failing heirs male of his body, to his brothers.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Gloucestershire from 1699 to 1700.1
