     John Poulett, 1st Earl Poulett was born in 1668.¹ He was the son of John Poulett, 3rd Baron Poulett and Lady Susan Herbert.² He married Bridget Bertie, daughter of Hon. Peregrine Bertie and Susan Monins, on 14 April 1702.² He died on 28 May 1743.²
     He succeeded as the 4th Baron Poulett, of Hinton St. George, Somerset [E., 1627] in July 1679.² He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of Devon in 1702.³ He held the office of Lord Lieutenant of Devon in 1702.³ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1702.³ He was created 1st Earl Poulett [Great Britain] on 29 December 1706.² He was created 1st Viscount Hinton, of Hinton St. George, Somerset [Great Britain] on 29 December 1706.² He held the office of First Lord of the Treasury from 1710 to 1711.³ He held the office of Lord Steward of the Household between 1711 and 1714.³ He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of Somerset between 1712 and 1714.³ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1713.³

     Bridget Bertie was born in 1680.¹ She was the daughter of Hon. Peregrine Bertie and Susan Monins.² She married John Poulett, 1st Earl Poulett, son of John Poulett, 3rd Baron Poulett and Lady Susan Herbert, on 14 April 1702.³ She died on 23 March 1747/48.³
     After her marriage, Bridget Bertie was styled as Baroness Poulett on 14 April 1702. Her married name became Poulett. After her marriage, Bridget Bertie was styled as Countess Poulett on 24 December 1706.

     Hon. Peregrine Bertie was the son of Montagu Bertie, 2nd Earl of Lindsey and Martha Cokayne.¹ He married Susan Monins, daughter of Sir Edward Monins, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Style.² He died on 4 January 1700.²
     He lived at Waldershare, Kent, England^G.³

     John Poulett, 3rd Baron Poulett was the son of John Poulett, 2nd Baron Poulett and Hon. Catharine de Vere.^1,2 He married, secondly, Lady Susan Herbert, daughter of Philip Herbert, 5th Earl of Pembroke and Catherine Villiers.³ He and Essex Popham obtained a marriage license on 17 August 1663.¹ He died in July 1679.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Somerset between 1662 and 1665.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Poulett, of Hinton St. George, Somerset [E., 1627] on 15 September 1665.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset between 1674 and 1679.¹

     Lady Susan Herbert is the daughter of Philip Herbert, 5th Earl of Pembroke and Catherine Villiers.¹ She married John Poulett, 3rd Baron Poulett, son of John Poulett, 2nd Baron Poulett and Hon. Catharine de Vere.¹
     After her marriage, Lady Susan Herbert was styled as Baroness Poulett. Her married name became Poulett.¹

     Sir Robert Naunton is the son of unknown Naunton.² He married Penelope Perrot, daughter of Sir Thomas Perrot and Lady Dorothy Devereux.³
     He held the office of Secretary of State, to King James I.¹ He held the office of Master of the Court of Wards and Liveries.¹ He was appointed Knight.

     Colonel Hon. John Beaumont was born after 1634. He was the son of Sapcote Beaumont, 2nd Viscount Beaumont of Swords and Bridget Monson.¹ He married, firstly, Felicia Mary Fermor, daughter of Sir Hatton Fermor.¹ He married, secondly, Philippa Carew, daughter of Sir Nicholas Carew.¹ He died on 3 July 1701, without issue.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Duke of Berwick’s Regiment.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Nottingham in 1685.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hastings between 1688 and 1690.¹ On 10 September 1688 he resisted King James II’s attempt to leaven the English Army with Irish Roman Catholics (the ‘Portsmouth Captains Affair’), and was court-martialled and cashiered.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in December 1688 in the Duke of Berwick’s Regiment.¹ In December 1688 he took part in the Whig Revolution.¹ He fought in the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, for King William III.¹ He held the office of Governor of Dover Castle.¹ In May 1695 he fought a duel with Sir William Forrester, disarming him, after a quarrel in Parliament.¹ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of Nationary Biography.²
     

     John Poulett, 2nd Earl Poulett was born on 10 December 1708.¹ He was the son of John Poulett, 1st Earl Poulett and Bridget Bertie.¹ He died on 5 November 1764 at age 55, unmarried.¹
     He was created 1st Lord Hinton [England by writ] on 16 January 1733/34.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Earl Poulett [G.B., 1706] on 28 May 1743.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Hinton, of Hinton St. George, Somerset [G.B., 1706] on 28 May 1743.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Baron Poulett, of Hinton St. George, Somerset [E., 1627] on 28 May 1743.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset between 1744 and 1764.¹

     Peregrine Poulett was the son of John Poulett, 1st Earl Poulett and Bridget Bertie.¹ He died on 26 August 1752, unmarried.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bridgwater.¹
