Lt.-Cdr. Lionel Peter Twiss1 
Lt.-Cdr. Lionel Peter Twiss usually went by his middle name of Peter.4 He was a British test pilot who held the World Air Speed Record as the first man to fly at a speed greater than 1,000 mph.2 He wrote the book Faster Than the Sun, published 1963.3 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) on 4 November 1964 and bar.4 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)2 He was director of Fairey Marine between 1968 and 1978.3 He was director of Hamble Point Marina between 1978 and 1988.3 He lived in 2003 at Nettleworth, 33 South Street, Titchfield, Hampshire, EnglandG.4
