     Hervey Harris Greathed was born on 31 August 1817.2 He was the son of Edward Greathed and Mary Elizabeth Glyn.2 He married Eliza Frances Turner, daughter of Thomas Jacob Turner, on 7 December 1844 at Agra, Bengal, India.1,2 He died on 19 September 1857 at age 40 at Delhi, India, from cholera during the siege.1,2
     He held the office of Commissioner of Meerut.2 He was with the Bengal Civil Service.1
