Malcolm George Dyer-Edwardes Leslie, 20th Earl of Rothes was born on 8 February 1902.2 He was the son of Norman Evelyn Leslie, 19th Earl of Rothes and Lucy Noëlle Martha Dyer-Edwardes.3 He married Beryl Violet Dugdale, daughter of Captain James Lionel Dugdale and Maud Violet Woodroffe, on 17 July 1926.3 He died on 17 May 1975 at age 73.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He succeeded as the 20th Earl of Rothes [S., 1458] on 29 March 1927.2 He succeeded as the 20th Lord Leslie [S., 1445] on 29 March 1927.2 He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1931 and 1959.2 He was chairman of National Mutual Life Assurance.2 He was awarded the Royal Company of Archers.2 He was Director of Tyres, Ministry of Supply between 1942 and 1945.2

Her married name became Leslie. After her marriage, Beryl Violet Dugdale was styled as Countess of Rothes on 29 March 1927.4
