Antony Henry Head, 1st Viscount Head was born on 19 December 1906.2 He was the son of Geoffrey Head and Ethel Daisy Flower.2 He married Lady Dorothea Louise Ashley-Cooper, daughter of Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 9th Earl of Shaftesbury and Lady Constance Sibell Grosvenor, on 23 July 1935.2 He died on 29 March 1983 at age 76.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of Adjutant between 1934 and 1937 in the Life Guards.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He gained the rank of Brigade Major in 1940 in the 20th Guards Brigade.2 He was GSO(2) of the Guards Armoured Division in 1942.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) Wilts [U.K.] on 2 August 1960.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1961.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1963.2 He held the office of High Commissioner to Malaysia between 1963 and 1966.2 He was Colonel Commandant of the SAS Regiment between 1968 and 1977.2 He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)2
