Reverend Thomas Roberts was born on 11 October 1590.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Nevill, daughter of Thomas Nevill.2 He married, secondly, Dorothy Boyle, daughter of Rt. Hon. Most Rev. Richard Boyle and Martha Wright, on 1 May 1654.2 He died before 5 May 1664.2
He was Rector of St. John of Jerusalem and St. Nicholas in 1639.2 He acquired estates in County Cork through his first wife.2 He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)2 He was Chancellor of the Diocese of Cork in 1661.2 In 1662 he bought lands in County Waterford.2 He lived at Brightfieldstown, County Cork, Ireland.2 He lived at Ballyfoyle, County Cork, Ireland.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1663.2
