He was educated at Stubbington House School, Fareham, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Naval Colleges.1 He was Commander of the Training Squadroon between 1912 and 1914.1 He was Commander of HMS Superb Grand Fleet during the First World War.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to HM George V in 1917.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1918.2,1 He was director of Mobilisation Admiralty between 1918 and 1921.1 He was Commander of the Portsmouth Division Reserve Fleet between 1921 and 1922.1 He was Commander of the Reserve Fleet between 1922 and 1923.1 He was appointed Order of St. Anne of Russia.1
