     Esther Smith was the daughter of Percy Smith and Elizabeth Jervois.^1,2 She married, firstly, Robert Gookin.¹ She married, secondly, James Bernard, son of Major North Ludlow Bernard and Rose Echlin, in 1755.² She died on 7 July 1790.²
     Her married name became Gookin.¹ From 1755, her married name became Bernard.

     Alys Whitall Pearson Smith was the daughter of Robert Pearsall Smith.¹ She married Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell, son of John Russell, Viscount Amberley and Lady Katherine Louisa Stanley, on 13 December 1894.¹ She and Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell were divorced in 1921.¹ She died on 21 January 1951.¹
     Her married name became Russell.

     Dora Winifred Black is the daughter of Sir Frederick Black.¹ She married Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell, son of John Russell, Viscount Amberley and Lady Katherine Louisa Stanley, on 27 September 1921.¹ She and Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell were divorced in 1935.¹
     She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)¹ From 27 September 1921, her married name became Russell. After her marriage, Dora Winifred Black was styled as Countess Russell on 3 March 1931.

     John Conrad Russell, 4th Earl Russell was born on 16 November 1921.¹ He was the son of Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell and Dora Winifred Black.¹ He married Susan Doniphan Lindsay, daughter of Nicholas Vachel Lindsay, on 28 August 1946.¹ He and Susan Doniphan Lindsay were divorced in 1955.¹ He died in 1987.¹
     He was educated at Dartington Hall School, Totnes, Devon, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.¹ He was educated at University of California, California, U.S.A.¹ He was educated at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.¹ He was with the British Admiralty Delegation to Washington between 1943 and 1946.¹ He adopted Lady Felicity Anne Russell. He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Amberley, of Amberley, co. Gloucester and Ardsalla, co. Meath [U.K., 1861] on 2 February 1970.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Earl Russell, of Kingston Russell, co. Dorset [U.K., 1861] on 2 February 1970.¹

     Susan Doniphan Lindsay is the daughter of Nicholas Vachel Lindsay.¹ She married John Conrad Russell, 4th Earl Russell, son of Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell and Dora Winifred Black, on 28 August 1946.¹ She and John Conrad Russell, 4th Earl Russell were divorced in 1955.¹
     From 28 August 1946, her married name became Russell.

     Nicholas Vachel Lindsay died before 1963.
