     Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, 1st Bt. was born on 4 July 1856.¹ He was the son of Bde. Surg. Benjamin Lane and Caroline Arbuthnot Ewing.¹ He married, firstly, Charlotte Jane Briscoe, daughter of John Briscoe, on 25 October 1884.¹ He married, secondly, Jane Mutch, daughter of Nathan Mutch, on 26 September 1935.² He died on 16 January 1943 at age 86.¹
     He graduated from London University, London, England, with a Bachelor of Surgery (C.B.)¹ He graduated from London University, London, England, with a Masterr of Surgery (M.S.)¹ He was created 1st Baronet Lane, of Cavendish Square, London [U.K.] on 19 June 1913.² He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.)¹

     Isabel Diana Colegate was born on 10 September 1931.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Arthur Colegate and Winifred Mary Worsley.¹ She married Michael Fenwick Briggs in 1953.¹ She died on 12 March 2023 at age 91.¹
     She was co-founder of Anthony Blond (London) Ltd, publishers in 1952.¹ From 1953, her married name became Briggs.¹ She wrote the book The Shooting Party, published 1980.¹

     Michael Fenwick Briggs was born on 7 July 1926.¹ He married Isabel Diana Colegate, daughter of Sir Arthur Colegate and Winifred Mary Worsley, in 1953.¹ He died on 22 July 2017 at age 91.¹
     He was educated at Gresham’s School, Holt, Norfolk, England.¹ He was educated at Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He lived at Midford Castle, Bath, Somerset, England.¹

     Emily Susanna Briggs is the daughter of Michael Fenwick Briggs and Isabel Diana Colegate.¹ She married Jonathan G. Ashley in 1984.¹

     Alexandra Edith Borthwick was born on 9 January 1958.¹ She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Algernon Malcolm Borthwick and Edith Wylde Addison.¹ She died on 10 January 1958.¹

     Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, 2nd Bt. was born on 7 July 1897.¹ He was the son of Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, 1st Bt. and Charlotte Jane Briscoe.¹ He married Fritzi Szamvald, daughter of Captain Fritz Szamvald, on 29 May 1937.¹ He died on 26 February 1972 at age 74.²
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.¹ He was Staff Captain and DAPM to Provost Marshal of hte UK between 1941 and 1945.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Lane, of Cavendish Square, London [U.K., 1913] on 16 January 1943.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1954.¹ He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)¹ On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.²

     Bde. Surg. Benjamin Lane was born on 5 June 1827.¹ He was the son of William Lane.¹ He married Caroline Arbuthnot Ewing, daughter of Dr. Joseph Ewing, on 23 April 1855.¹
