     Charlotte Jane Briscoe was the daughter of John Briscoe.1 She married Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, 1st Bt., son of Bde. Surg. Benjamin Lane and Caroline Arbuthnot Ewing, on 25 October 1884.1 She died on 28 April 1935.1
     She was appointed Dame of Grace, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.)1 From 25 October 1884, her married name became Lane.1 She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1918.1
