     Sir Alfred David McAlpine was born on 6 November 1881.¹ He was the son of Sir Robert McAlpine, 1st Bt. and Agnes Hepburn.² He married Ethel May Williams, daughter of James Williams, on 19 April 1907.¹ He died on 25 May 1944 at age 62.¹
     He was member of Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons, civil engineering contractors.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) of Denbighshire.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Denbighshire in 1923.¹ He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)² He lived at Marchwiel Hall, Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales^G.

     Ethel May Williams was the daughter of James Williams.¹ She married Sir Alfred David McAlpine, son of Sir Robert McAlpine, 1st Bt. and Agnes Hepburn, on 19 April 1907.² She died on 24 October 1961.²
