Sir Joseph Scott, 1st Bt. was born on 31 March 1752.1 He was the son of William Scott and Mary Whitby.1 He married Margaret Whitby, daughter of Edward Whitby, on 21 January 1777.1 He died on 17 June 1828 at age 76.1
He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Staffordshire from 1799 to 1800.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Worcester between 1802 and 1806.1 He was created 1st Baronet Scott, of Great Barr, co. Stafford [U.K.] on 30 April 1806.2
