     Hubert Berkeley was born on 25 June 1864.¹ He was the son of Robert Martin Berkeley and Lady Mary Catherine Browne.¹ He died on 27 April 1942 at age 77, unmarried.¹
     He was in the Malay States Civil Service.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 6th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Naval Reserve.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was awarded the Imperial Service Order (I.S.O.) in 1921.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Worcestershire in 1927.¹

     George Lennox Rawdon Berkeley, 7th Earl of Berkeley was born on 25 February 1827.¹ He was the son of General Sir George Henry Frederick Berkeley and Lucy Sutton.¹ He was baptised on 28 March 1827 at Brighton, Sussex, England^G.² He married Cécile Drummond, daughter of Edward Drummond, Comte de Melfort and Marie Sabina Naysmith, on 22 February 1860.¹ He died on 27 August 1888 at age 61 at Dover Street, London, England^G.¹ He was buried at Molesey, Surrey, England^G.¹
     He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Berkeley, co. Gloucester [E., 1679] on 27 August 1882, although he never took his seat, as the succession was not fully established.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Viscount Dursley, co. Gloucester [E., 1679] on 27 August 1882.

     Dermot McCahir Cavanagh, Baron of Ballyane was the son of Cahir McArt Cavanagh, Baron of Ballyane.¹ He died, without issue.¹
     He was created Baron of Ballyane, co. Wexford [Ireland, Life Peer] on 17 May 1555.¹

     Jean Fraser is the daughter of Major Charles Ian Fraser of Reelig.¹ She married Charles John Gore, son of John Francis Gore and Lady Janet Helena Campbell, on 10 June 1961.¹
     Her married name became Gore.

     Sir Thomas Sutton, 1st and last Bt. was the son of Thomas Sutton and Jane Hankey.
     He was created 1st Baronet Sutton, of Molesey, Sutton [U.K.] in 1806.²

     John Alexander Gore was born on 21 November 1971.¹ He is the son of Charles John Gore and Jean Fraser.¹

     Frederick Augustus Berkeley, 5th Earl of Berkeley was born on 24 May 1745.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Augustus Berkeley, 4th Earl of Berkeley and Elizabeth Drax.¹ He was baptised on 10 June 1745 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Covent Garden, London, England^G.¹ He married Mary Cole, daughter of William Cole, on 16 May 1796 at Lambeth Church, Surrey, England^G, in a private marriage.¹ He died on 8 August 1810 at age 65.¹ His will was proven (by probate) on 31 August 1810.²
     He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Berkeley, co. Gloucester [E., 1679] on 9 January 1755.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Dursley, co. Gloucester [E., 1679] on 9 January 1755.¹ He succeeded as the 13th Lord Berkeley [E., 1421] on 9 January 1755.¹ He held the office of Constable of St. Briavel’s Castle between 1766 and 1810.¹ He held the office of Warden of the Forest of Dean between 1766 and 1810.¹ He held the office of High Steward of Gloucester between 1766 and 1810.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire between 1766 and 1810.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in 1779 in the British Army.¹ A previous marriage between these two on the 30 March 1785, was attempted to be proved, but was not admitted by the House of Lords in 1811. There was much dispute as to whether this marriage occured. It was finally legally established as having occured 16 May 1796. Some of their children were thus illegitimate, and the legitimacy of others was in dispute until 1891.¹ His last will was dated 12 April 1810. On his death, his titles became dormant for 72 years.²

     Mary Cole was born circa 1767.² She was the daughter of William Cole.¹ She married Frederick Augustus Berkeley, 5th Earl of Berkeley, son of Lt.-Col. Augustus Berkeley, 4th Earl of Berkeley and Elizabeth Drax, on 16 May 1796 at Lambeth Church, Surrey, England^G, in a private marriage.¹ She died on 30 October 1844 at Cranford, London, England^G.² She was buried at Cranford, London, England^G.² Her will was proven (by probate) in May 1845.²
     A previous marriage between these two on the 30 March 1785, was attempted to be proved, but was not admitted by the House of Lords in 1811. There was much dispute as to whether this marriage occured. It was finally legally established as having occured 16 May 1796. Some of their children were thus illegitimate, and the legitimacy of others was in dispute until 1891.¹ Her married name became Berkeley.

     Randal Thomas Mowbray Berkeley, 8th Earl of Berkeley was born on 31 January 1865 at Ixelles, Belgium^G.^1,2 He was the son of George Lennox Rawdon Berkeley, 7th Earl of Berkeley and Cécile Drummond.¹ He married, firstly, Kate Brand, daughter of William Brand, on 9 November 1887.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Emlen Lloyd Lowell, daughter of John Lowell, on 8 November 1924.³ He died on 15 January 1942 at age 76, without issue.³
     He gained the rank of Midshipman in 1881 in the Royal Navy.¹ He was styled as Viscount Dursley between 1882 and 1888.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1887.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Viscount Dursley, co. Gloucester [E., 1679] on 27 August 1888.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Berkeley, co. Gloucester [E., 1679] on 27 August 1888.¹ On 31 July 1891 his right to the peerage was established.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1908.¹
     On his death, his two peerages became extinct or dormant.³ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁴
     

     Kate Brand was the daughter of William Brand.¹ She married, firstly, Arthur Herbert Jackson in 1876.¹ She married, secondly, Randal Thomas Mowbray Berkeley, 8th Earl of Berkeley, son of George Lennox Rawdon Berkeley, 7th Earl of Berkeley and Cécile Drummond, on 9 November 1887.¹ She died on 29 March 1898 at Foxcombe, Berkshire, England^G, without issue.¹ She was buried at Wootton, Wiltshire, England^G.¹
     Kate Brand used the stage-name of Elizabeth Brandon. From 1876, her married name became Jackson.¹ Her married name became Berkeley. After her marriage, Kate Brand was styled as Countess of Berkeley on 27 August 1888.
