Maj.-Gen. Sir Arthur Henry Freeling, 5th Bt. was born on 26 July 1820 at London, England.2 He was the son of John Clayton Freeling and Mary Coxe. He married Charlotte Augusta Rivers, daughter of Rev. Sir Henry Rivers, 9th Bt.. He died on 26 March 1885 at age 64 at London, England.2
He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Freeling, of Ford and Hutchings, co. Sussex [U.K., 1828]. He held the office of Surveyor-General of South Australia between 1849 and 1861.2
