     He was given the name of Walter Griffith at birth.1 He was Lord of the manor of Twemlow, Cheshire.1 In 1792 his name was legally changed to Walter Griffith Booth on succeedign to his uncle.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1
