     General Sir Laurence James Oliphant, 9th of Condie was born on 14 December 1846.¹ He was the son of Laurence Oliphant, 8th of Condie and Marianne Oliphant.² He married Hon. Mary Monica Gerard, daughter of Robert Tolver Gerard, 1st Baron Gerard of Bryn and Harriet Clifton, on 19 November 1878.¹ He died on 6 July 1914 at age 67.¹
     He fought in the Sudan Campaign in 1885.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Perthshire.¹ He gained the rank of General in the Grenadier Guards.² He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches.² He was Commander-in-Chief of the Home District between 1903 and 1906.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1905.¹ He was Commander-in-Chief of the Northern Command between 1907 and 1911.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1911.¹ He lived at Newton, Perthshire, Scotland^G.²

     Mary Anne Oliphant is the daughter of Laurence Oliphant, 8th of Condie and Marianne Oliphant.² She married Thomas Stubbs Walker, son of Eleonora Wastell, in 1867.¹
     From 1867, her married name became Walker.

     Thomas Stubbs Walker was the son of Eleonora Wastell. He married Mary Anne Oliphant, daughter of Laurence Oliphant, 8th of Condie and Marianne Oliphant, in 1867.¹ He died in 1878.¹
     He lived at Maunby Hall, Yorkshire, England^G.¹

     Madalina Helen Oliphant was the daughter of Laurence Oliphant, 8th of Condie and Marianne Oliphant.² She died in 1884.¹

     Francis Louisa Oliphant was the son of Laurence Oliphant, 8th of Condie and Marianne Oliphant.² He died on 27 November 1921.¹

     Susan Sophia Oliphant was the daughter of Laurence Oliphant, 8th of Condie and Marianne Oliphant.² She married John Maitland Thomson on 19 September 1894.¹ She died on 12 February 1900.¹
     From 19 September 1894, her married name became Thomson.
