Robert John Babington was born on 9 April 1920.1 He was the son of Major David Louis James Babington and Alice Marie McClintock.1 He married Elizabeth Bryanna Marguerite Alton, daughter of Ernest Henry Alton and Ethel Marjory Hughes-Hunter, on 2 January 1954.2 He died on 17 September 2010 at age 90.1
He was educated at St. Columba’s College, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.)1 He was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Down between 1969 and 1972.1
