     David Lindesay-Bethune, 15th Earl of Lindsay was born on 9 February 1926.¹ He was the son of William Tucker Lindesay-Bethune, 14th Earl of Lindsay and Marjory Cross.¹ He married, firstly, Hon. Mary-Clare Douglas-Scott-Montagu, daughter of Brig.-Gen. John Walter Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu and Alice Pearl Crake, on 31 October 1953.¹ He and Hon. Mary-Clare Douglas-Scott-Montagu were divorced in 1968. He married, secondly, Penelope Georgina Crossley, daughter of Anthony Crommelin Crossley and Clare Frances Fortescue Thomson, on 9 June 1969.³ He died in 1989.¹

     Marjory Cross was the daughter of Arthur John Graham Cross and Marjory Nelson Ritchie Edwards.¹ She married William Tucker Lindesay-Bethune, 14th Earl of Lindsay, son of Archibald Lionel Bethune, 13th Earl of Lindsay and Ethel Tucker, on 6 January 1925.¹ She died in 1988.¹
     She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.St.J.)¹ From 6 January 1925, her married name became Lindesay-Bethune.¹
