Sir Frederick Thorpe Mappin, 1st Bt.1 

Sir Frederick Thorpe Mappin, 1st Bt. was born on 16 May 1821 at Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.1 He was the son of Joseph Mappin and Mary Ann Thorpe.3 He married Mary Crossley Wilson, daughter of John Wilson, on 25 September 1845.3 He died on 19 March 1910 at age 88 at Thornbury, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.3
He held the office of Mayor of Sheffield between 1877 and 1878.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Sheffield.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Retford between 1880 and 1885.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Hallamshire between 1885 and 1905.3 He was created 1st Baronet Mappin, of Thornbury, co., York [U.K.] on 27 August 1886.4 He was partner of Thomas Turton & Sons.3
