     Surg.-Maj. John Gay-French was born on 27 June 1839.¹ He died on 28 July 1885 at age 46 at Ballingar, County Galway, Ireland.¹
     He graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹ He gained the rank of Assistant Surgeon on 1 October 1860 in the Bengal Army.¹ He fought in the Northwest Frontier between 1865 and 1866.¹ He graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland, in 1870 with a Master of Surgery (M.Ch.)¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.) on 9 June 1870.¹ He gained the rank of Surgeon on 1 October 1872.¹ He gained the rank of Surgeon-Major on 1 July 1873.¹ He gained the rank of Surgeon-Major in the Indian Medical Society.¹

     Kathleen Eleanor Gay-French is the daughter of Surg.-Maj. John Gay-French.¹ She married Michael Eruli du Santoy Prothero, son of Rev. Canon George Prothero and Emma Money-Kyrle, on 15 February 1884 at Christ Church, Bankipore, Bengal, India.¹
     From 15 February 1884, her married name became Prothero.¹

     Michael Eruli du Santoy Prothero was born on 18 December 1856 at Whippingham, Isle of Wight, England.^1,2 He was the son of Rev. Canon George Prothero and Emma Money-Kyrle.¹ He married Kathleen Eleanor Gay-French, daughter of Surg.-Maj. John Gay-French, on 15 February 1884 at Christ Church, Bankipore, Bengal, India.¹ He died in 1923.¹
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He was with the Indian Civil Service.²

     Sir John Ernle was born circa 1647.¹ He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir John Ernle.¹ He married Vincentia Kyrle, daughter of Sir John Kyrle, 2nd Bt. and Rebecca Vincent, on 6 December 1674.² He died in 1686.¹
     He was appointed Knight.² He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)² He lived at Burytown, Highworth, Wiltshire, England.¹ He lived at Whetham, Wiltshire, England.²

     Vincentia Kyrle was born on 2 October 1651.² She was the daughter of Sir John Kyrle, 2nd Bt. and Rebecca Vincent.^3,2 She married Sir John Ernle, son of Rt. Hon. Sir John Ernle, on 6 December 1674.² She died in 1683.¹
     From 6 December 1674, her married name became Ernle.¹ She lived at Much Marcle, Herefordshire, England.¹

     Rt. Hon. Sir John Ernle was born circa 1618.¹ He died in 1697.¹
     He lived at Whetham, Wiltshire, England.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)¹ He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1676 and 1689.¹

     Hester Ernle was born on 8 February 1675/76.² She was the daughter of Sir John Ernle and Vincentia Kyrle.¹ She married William Washbourne, son of William Washbourne and Susannah Dowdeswell.¹ She died in 1723.¹

     William Washbourne was the son of William Washbourne and Susannah Dowdeswell.² He married Hester Ernle, daughter of Sir John Ernle and Vincentia Kyrle.¹ He died in 1726.³

     Elizabeth Washbourne was the daughter of William Washbourne and Hester Ernle.¹ She married Francis Money on 1 October 1723.² She died on 2 March 1726.²
