He graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He gained the rank of Assistant Surgeon on 1 October 1860 in the Bengal Army.1 He fought in the Northwest Frontier between 1865 and 1866.1 He graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland, in 1870 with a Master of Surgery (M.Ch.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.) on 9 June 1870.1 He gained the rank of Surgeon on 1 October 1872.1 He gained the rank of Surgeon-Major on 1 July 1873.1 He gained the rank of Surgeon-Major in the Indian Medical Society.1
