     He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Bengal Staff Corps.2 He gained the rank of Major in the 30th Gordon’s Horse, Indian Army.1

     He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.2 He was commissioned on 21 December 1889 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, in the service of the East Surrey Regiment.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 19 May 1892 in the Indian Staff Corps.2 He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1897 and 1903.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)2 He fought in the Somaliland Campaign between 1903 and 1904.2 He gained the rank of Major on 21 December 1907.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1916.2
