     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Young, of Partick, County of the City of Glasgow [U.K., 1945] on 15 October 1963.¹ He was a practising Advocate.¹ He was educated at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of North Strathclyde at Greenock between 1984 and 2001.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Glasgow and Strathkelvin between March 1984 and June 1984.¹ He held the office of Sheriff Principal of Grampian Highland and Islands in 2001.¹ He was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) in 2002.¹ He lived in 2003 at Beechfield, Newton of Kinkell, Conon Bridge, Ross-shire, Scotland.¹

     Professor Patrick Horace Nowell-Smith was born on 17 August 1914.² He married, firstly, Perilla Thyme Southwell, daughter of Sir Richard Vynne Southwell, in 1946 at Westminster, London, England.² He and Perilla Thyme Southwell were divorced before 1968.² He married, secondly, Felicity Ward in 1968.² He and Felicity Ward were divorced.² He died on 16 February 2006 at age 91.²
