William Robert Stanley Prescott usually went by his middle name of Stanley.1 He was educated at Boardman High School, Boardman, Ohio, U.S.A.1 He graduated from St. John’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1934 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Gray’s Inn in 1935 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He fought in the Second World War, he was invalided in 1943.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Captain in the Royal Signals (Territorial Army.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Darwen, Lancashire between 1943 and 1951.1 He was a member of the Court Common Council between 1945 and 1950.1 He was vice president of the National Chamber of Trade.1
