     Emily Vassar was the daughter of Jabez Vassar.² She married Richard Tew Smith, son of Edward Smith.¹ She died in 1852.¹
     Her married name became Smith.

     Sir Richard Vassar-Smith, 1st Bt. was born on 11 July 1843.¹ He was the son of Richard Tew Smith and Emily Vassar.² He married Mary Partridge, daughter of John Partridge, on 30 August 1866.¹ He died on 2 August 1922 at age 79.¹
     He was given the name of Richard Smith at birth.¹ In 1883 his name was legally changed to Richard Vassar-Smith by Royal Licence.¹ He was director of London and Rio Plate Bank, P&O For Banking Corporation and Yorkshire Penny Bank.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Gloucestershire.¹ He was chairman of Lloyds Bank and Nat Provincial For Bank.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Gloucestershire.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Bristol.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Vassar-Smith, of Charlton Park, Charlton Kings, co. Gloucester [U.K.] on 10 July 1917.¹

     John Partridge lived at Malvern, Worcestershire, England.¹

     Mary Partridge was the daughter of John Partridge.² She married Sir Richard Vassar-Smith, 1st Bt., son of Richard Tew Smith and Emily Vassar, on 30 August 1866.¹ She died on 9 October 1930.¹
     From 30 August 1866, her married name became Vassar-Smith.

     Sir John George Lawley Vassar-Smith, 2nd Bt. was born on 10 December 1868.¹ He was the son of Sir Richard Vassar-Smith, 1st Bt. and Mary Partridge.² He died on 2 May 1942 at age 73, unmarried.¹
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1890 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Vassar-Smith, of Charlton Park, Charlton Kings, co. Gloucester [U.K., 1917] on 2 August 1922.¹

     Charles Martin Vassar-Smith was born on 5 June 1881.¹ He was the son of Sir Richard Vassar-Smith, 1st Bt. and Mary Partridge.² He married Gladys Emmeline Rathborne, daughter of Colonel William Hans Rathborne and Bella Grace MacNeale, on 29 December 1908.¹ He died on 25 November 1920 at age 39.¹
     He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.¹

     Billy Alexander Metcalfe was born in 1995.¹ He is the son of Julian Edward Metcalfe.¹

     Gladys Emmeline Rathborne was born circa 1882. She was the daughter of Colonel William Hans Rathborne and Bella Grace MacNeale.^2,3 She married Charles Martin Vassar-Smith, son of Sir Richard Vassar-Smith, 1st Bt. and Mary Partridge, on 29 December 1908.¹ She died on 24 November 1970.¹
     From 29 December 1908, her married name became Vassar-Smith.
