     Sir William Urchard was born circa 1395.1 He was the son of John de Urchard and Agnes Ramsay.2 He married Susanna Forbes, daughter of Alexander Forbes, 1st Lord Forbes and Lady Elizabeth Douglas.1 He died in 1472.1
     In 1470 King James III granted for himself and his heirs the Mote and Mansion Mound of Cromarty, with licence to build a tower or fortalice thereon.2 He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Cromarty in 1470.1
