     Janet Baillie is the daughter of Sir William Baillie of Lamington.² She married Sir David Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston, son of Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Katherine Tweedie.¹
     Her married name became Hamilton.

     George Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston was the son of Sir David Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Janet Baillie.² He married Barbara Cockburn, daughter of Sir John Cockburn of Ormiston and Alison Sandilands, in 1563.¹ He died in 1608.¹
     He also had five daughters.¹

     Brig.-Gen. Lionel Abel Abel-Smith was born in 1870.¹ He was the son of Reverend Albert Smith.¹ He married Genevieve Lilac Walsh.¹ He died in 1946.¹

     Her married name became Abel-Smith.¹

     Sir John Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston was the son of George Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Barbara Cockburn.² He married Johanna Otterburn, daughter of Sir Thomas Otterburn of Redhall.¹ He died in 1644.¹
     He was attainted for participating in Raid of Ruthven but was restored.¹ He was a Covenanter.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Lothian [Scotland] between 1639 and 1641.¹ From 1643 to 1644 he sat in a convention of estates.¹

     Johanna Otterburn is the daughter of Sir Thomas Otterburn of Redhall.² She married Sir John Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston, son of George Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Barbara Cockburn.¹
     Her married name became Hamilton.

     Sir James Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston was born in 1589.¹ He was the son of Sir John Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Johanna Otterburn.² He married Barbara Mure, daughter of Sir Robert Mure of Caldwell, in 1609.¹ He died in October 1644.¹
     He was appointed Knight in 1615.¹

     Sir Robert Mure of Caldwell is the son of Sir John Mure, 7th of Caldwell and Janet Kennedy.²
