Colonel Grey Townsend Skipwith was born on 2 November 1838.1 He was the son of Fulwar Skipwith and Mary Philadelphia Adams.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Helen Wemyss, daughter of Major James Wemyss and Helen Reilly, on 3 December 1867.1 He married, secondly, Sophia Flora Cooke-Yarborough, daughter of Colonel Charles Cooke-Yarborough and Flora Emily Sophia Grant, in September 1887.2 He died on 12 August 1900 at age 61.2
He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Engineers.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent.1 He lived at Loversal Hall, Doncaster, Yorkshire, England.1
