Lt.-Col. Severus William Lynam Stretton1 
He was commissioned in 1810 with the rank of Ensign, in the service of the Nottinghamshire Militia.2 He fought in the Battle of Vitoria, where he was wounded.2 He fought in the Peninsular Wars.2 He gained the rank of Major in 1831 in the 64th Regiment.2 He fought in the Lieutenant-Colonel in 1842, 64th Regiment.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1848 in the 40th Regiment.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Southampton in 1862.2
