     He fought in the Punjab War between 1848 and 1849.¹ He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1849 and 1855.¹ He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹ He was Colonel Commandant of the Royal Horse Artillery.¹

     Louisa Hester Steward was born in 1845 at Wem, Shropshire, England.¹ She was the daughter of John Steward and Jane Thompson Stennett.¹ She married Lt.-Gen. George Godfrey Pearse, son of Dr. George Pearse and Anne Sarah McCulloch, on 6 May 1879 at Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England^G.¹ She died in 1914 at Fulham, London, England.¹
     From 6 May 1879, her married name became Pearse.¹

     Zoe Dorothy Pearse was born on 24 March 1880.¹ She was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. George Godfrey Pearse and Louisa Hester Steward.¹ She was baptised on 21 April 1880 at Bangalore, Madras, India.¹ She died in 1894 at Paddington, London, England.¹

     William Coesvelt Kortright married Augusta Jane St. John-Mildmay, daughter of Venerable Carew Antony St. John-Mildmay and Hon. Caroline Waldegrave.¹ He died in July 1863.¹
