     Alexander Robertson of Struan, 12th Chief of Clan Donnachaidh was the son of Alexander Robertson of Struan, 11th Chief of Clan Donnachaidh and Margaret Graeme.2 He married, firstly, Katharine Drummond, daughter of Sir James Drummond, 1st of Machany and Catherine Hamilton.1 He married, secondly, Mariota Baillie, daughter of Lt.-Gen. William Baillie of Letham and Torwoodhead.1 He died in November 1688.1
     On 22 February 1581 he was served heir to nine of his predecessors separately.1 He held the position of 12th Chief of the Clan Donnachaidh from in 1636.1 From 1653 to 1654 he joined the abortive insurrection of the 9th Earl of Glencairn.1
