     Major Arthur Nugent was born on 3 April 1856 at Auckland, New Zealand.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Charles Lavallin Nugent and Charlotte Marcia Dean-Pitt.1 He married Elizabeth Douglas, daughter of Waddell Cunningham Douglas and Lydia Louisa Turner, on 4 April 1893.1 He died on 4 November 1914 at age 58.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Down.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 7th Royal Fusiliers.1 He lived at Ballyedmond, Killowen, County Down, Ireland.1
