     Samuel Powell was born on 28 January 1760.1 He was the son of Richard Powell and Elizabeth Cottrell.2 He married Frances Richmond, daughter of Henry Richmond, on 24 February 1796.1 He died on 16 June 1834 at age 74.1
     They had six other sons and three daughters.1 He lived at Hammerton Hall, Lancashire, England.1
