She was perhaps identical with the daughter of the 3rd and last Earl of Tyrone who married (in which case this daughter married 2nd) Sir Brian MacMahon, Chief of his Name.2 Her married name became MacDonnell.

Sir Brian MacPhelim O’Neill1 
He was appointed Knight.2 He was Captain or Lord of Clannaboy, as which he was initially recognised by the English.2 He was he was obliged to repulse an invasion by the English Governor of Ulster who crossed the Ford of Belfast in 1573.2 In 1574 although the Governorof Ulster was welcomed by Sir Brian as a guest arranged the massacre of 200 of Sir Brian’s people and took Sir Brian, his wife and his half-brother Rory Og MacQuillin in chains to Carrickfergus.2

Shane Mac Brian O’Neill1 
Rival claimants to the Chieftship prevented him retaining his original land holdings.1 He was Captain or Lord of Clannaboy, as which recognised (and installed) by the English in April 1583.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Antrim [Ireland] in 1585.1 In 1598 he joined his cousin 3rd Earl of Tyrone’s Rising but was pardoned.1 Between 1603 and 1610 at the Plantation of Ulster the Clannaboy O’Neills were stripped of over 600,000 acres, but the Chief was allowed to keep c 120,000 acres and Shane’s Castle.1
