Shane ‘an Diomais’ O’Neill1 
Shane ‘an Diomais’ O’Neill also went by the nick-name of Shane ‘an Diomais’ (or in English, The Proud.)1 He held the office of Dynast of Tyrone between 1559 and 1567.1 In 1562 after years of resistance to the English, he submitted to Queen Elizabeth I in London in person.1 He defeated the Scots of Antrim, capturing their Chief (and his future father-in-law), James McDonnell of Islay, and the latter’s brother (and his (Shane’s) future brother-in-law) Sorley Buie.1
