Sir Robert Maxwell of Spottis1 
On 21 February 1573 he acquired the eleven merk land of Spottis and others.2 On 27 April 1577 he and his wife were infeffed of the lands of Netherlaw, in Rerwick.2 In 1582 he had taken Orchardton in wadset.2 On 2 January 1584 he and his wife were infeffed of the lands of Nether Linkings.2 On 25 May 1590 he acquired the lands of Kings’ Grange or Little Spottis, in the parish of Urr.2 On 3 August 1593 he acquired the lands of West Netherlaw.2

Sir Robert Maxwell of Orchardtoun, 1st Bt.1 
On 31 October 1615 he was retoured heir to his father in the lands of Spottis and others.2 He was created 1st Baronet Maxwell, of Orchardtoun [Nova Scotia] on 30 June 1663.1 He lived at Ballycastle, County Londonderry, Ireland.1 He lived at Ordchardtoun, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.1
