     Sir Arthur Basil Markham, 1st Bt. was born on 25 August 1866.¹ He was the son of Charles Markham and Rosa Paxton.² He married, firstly, Mary Louise Agnes Caroline Welstead, daughter of Captain John Richard Welstead, on 31 January 1889.¹ He and Mary Louise Agnes Caroline Welstead were divorced in 1895.¹ He married, secondly, Lucy Bertram Cunningham, daughter of A. B. Cunningham, on 17 September 1898.¹ He died on 5 August 1916 at age 49.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, Derbys Regiment.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Mansfield between 1900 and 1916.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyshire.¹ He was founder of Doncaster Amalgamated Collieries.¹ He was director of Tredegar Iron & Coal.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Markham, of Beachborough Park, Newington, Kent [U.K.] on 10 July 1911.¹

     Ernest Whinfield Markham was born on 3 October 1867.¹ He was the son of Charles Markham and Rosa Paxton.² He died on 21 April 1888 at age 20, unmarried.¹

     Geraldine Markham was born on 11 July 1873.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Markham and Rosa Paxton.² She married Samuel Hugh Franklin Hole, son of Very Rev. Samuel Reynolds Hole, on 25 April 1889.¹ She died on 18 April 1955 at age 81.¹
     From 25 April 1889, her married name became Hole.

     Very Rev. Samuel Reynolds Hole graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)¹ He held the office of Dean of Rochester.¹

     Samuel Hugh Franklin Hole was the son of Very Rev. Samuel Reynolds Hole.² He married Geraldine Markham, daughter of Charles Markham and Rosa Paxton, on 25 April 1889.¹ He died on 14 May 1948.¹
     He was a practising barrister.¹

     Violet Rosa Markham was born on 3 October 1872.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Markham and Rosa Paxton.² She married Lt.-Col. James Carruthers, son of Peter Carruthers, on 11 February 1915.¹ She died on 2 February 1959 at age 86.¹
     From 11 February 1915, her married name became Carruthers. She was appointed Companion of Honour (C.H.) in 1917.¹ She was appointed Fellow, Royal Historical Society (F.R.Hist.S.)¹ She was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.)¹ She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyhsire in 1922.¹ She held the office of Mayor of Chesterfield in 1927.¹ She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Chesterfield in 1930.¹ She was member of the Executive National Relief Fund and Unemployment Assistance Board between 1934 and 1946.¹ She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) in 1938.¹

     Lt.-Col. James Carruthers was the son of Peter Carruthers.² He married Violet Rosa Markham, daughter of Charles Markham and Rosa Paxton, on 11 February 1915.¹ He died on 27 June 1936.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Field Artillery.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)¹

     Captain John Richard Welstead gained the rank of Captain in the 7th Dragoon Guards.¹
