Robert Alfred Cloyne Godwin-Austen1 

Robert Alfred Cloyne Godwin-Austen was born on 17 March 1808 at Shalford House, Guildford, Surrey, England.3 He was the son of Sir Henry Edmund Austen and Anne Amelia Bate.3 He married Maria Elizabeth Godwin, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Henry Thomas Godwin, on 23 July 1833.3 He died on 25 November 1884 at age 76 at Shalford House, Guildford, Surrey, England.3
He was educated at Midhurst Grammar School, Midhurst, Sussex, EnglandG.3 He graduated from Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1830 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)3 He was appointed Fellow, Geological Society (F.G.S.) on 19 March 1830.3 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 7 June 1849.3 He was a geologist.3 He lived at Shalford, Essex, EnglandG.4
