Stephen Rumbold Lushington was born in May 1776 at Rodmersham, Kent, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Reverend James Stephen Lushington and Mary Christian.1 He married Mary Anne Hearne, daughter of George Hearne.1 He married Hon. Anne Elizabeth Harris, daughter of George Harris, 1st Baron Harris and Anne Dickson, on 9 December 1797 at Belmont, Kent, EnglandG.2 He died on 5 August 1868 at age 92.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)1 He held the office of Junior Secretary of the Treasury between 7 January 1814 and 7 February 1823.2 He held the office of Secretary of the Treasury between 7 February 1823 and 19 April 1827.2 He held the office of Governor of Madras between 18 October 1827 and 25 October 1832.2
