     He acquired the Manors of Cardeston, Loton and Wattlesborough, Shropshire.¹ William, married Margery, daughter and coheir of Sir Fulk Sprencheaux, of Plash, Salop, and was ancestor of the extinct LEIGHTONs of Plash) and a daughter (Elizabeth, married William Lyster, of Rowton).¹ He held the office of Constable of Oswestry Castle.¹ He held the office of Steward of Montgomery Castle, for Richard, Duke of York, but he switched to King Henry VII before the Battle of Bosworth.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Shropshire.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shropshire in 1460.¹ He lived at Stretton-in-le-Dale, Shropshire, England.¹
