Sir Gilbert King, 1st Bt. was born in 1746.1 He was the son of Gilbert King and Anne Parke.2 He married Jane King, daughter of John King and Alice Mahon.1 He died on 8 August 1818, without issue.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the 5th Royal Irish Regiment Dragoons.1 He was created 1st Baronet King, of Charlestown, co. Roscommon [U.K.] on 21 July 1815, with a special remainder to his brothers John and Robert by primogeniture and their heirs male.1 He lived at Charlestown, County Roscommon, Ireland.1
