Walter Biggar Blaikie1 
Walter Biggar Blaikie was born on 23 November 1847.1 He was the son of Reverend William Garden Blaikie and Margaret Catherine Biggar.3 He married Janet Marshall Macfie, daughter of John Macfie and Lillias Fullarton, on 31 July 1873.1 He died on 3 May 1928 at age 80.1
He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was educated at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was a civil engineer between 1870 and 1874 at IndiaG, building a palace, a post-office, a clock-tower, a church, a hospital and a gaol, also cutting roads and drawing plans for the harbour in the Runn of Clutch.1 He was a printer, The deep purple endpapers in books were his speciality and they are known as Blaikie endpapers.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Edinburgh (F.R.S.E.)2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
