     From 1936, her married name became Hofer.¹ From 30 August 1945, her married name became Shairp.¹

     Herman Marten Hofer is the son of John Jacob Hofer.¹ He married Lady Ellen Millicent Louise Montagu, daughter of William Angus Drogo Montagu, 9th Duke of Manchester and Helena Zimmerman, in 1936.¹ He and Lady Ellen Millicent Louise Montagu were divorced in 1944.¹

     John Jacob Hofer lived at Zürich, Switzerland^G.¹

     Major John Norman Shairp is the son of Colonel Alexander Shairp.¹ He married Lady Ellen Millicent Louise Montagu, daughter of William Angus Drogo Montagu, 9th Duke of Manchester and Helena Zimmerman, on 30 August 1945.¹

     Colonel Alexander Shairp was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Indian Army.¹

     Nell Vere Stead was the daughter of Sydney Vere Stead.¹ She married Alexander George Francis Drogo Montagu, 10th Duke of Manchester, son of William Angus Drogo Montagu, 9th Duke of Manchester and Helena Zimmerman, on 5 May 1927.¹ She died on 2 September 1966.¹
     From 5 May 1927, her married name became Montagu.¹ After her marriage, Nell Vere Stead was styled as Duchess of Manchester on 9 February 1947.
